About Moose Moose is 10 years old and he came to us from a family in Lompoc. His owner went to jail and Moose was left in the care of his elderly and disabled parents who could not physically care for a dog this size. So, he spent the last 2 years in a back yard alone. They provided food and water but that was the best they could do. Moose was starving for attention and infested with fleas when we picked him up. About Mittens Mittens is still a little shy, but is coming out of her shell a little more each and every day. A concerned citizen finally caught her after seeing her running around loose for many weeks. She had been abandoned, left to fend for herself, in the middle of winter and eventually found in herself to trust a stranger. She spent a few weeks in a vet office while they looked for her home, but no one came forward. With nowhere for her to go, Shadow's Fund was able to step in and bring her to their sanctuary. She loves to play with other dogs and pesters them for more when they're no longer interested. She's a silly, little, wiggly girl and her favorite place in on your lap, or snuggled into blankets. It takes her a few minutes to warm up to new people and new dogs, but once she does she's your best friend. She prefers mellow dogs to energetic ones at this point, but is doing well with all energies with a proper introduction. She loves kids and loves giving them kisses on their noses.
